Verizon confirms the closure of KIN studio on Jan 31st, 2011. Offers a 3G phone as compensation!

Though the customers will still be able to send messages, send email and even stream music via Zune Pass but their formally shining home screens will freeze. People will end up losing their online repository of photos, videos and contacts though they can be backed up before January 31st.

Though the news might be disappointing to many regular KIN users out there yet Verizon thinks that offering a new phone to them might just make them content. As a result Verizon is happy to offer any 3G smartphone by March 31st in return of the surprisingly disappointing news that has suddenly popped in for the regular KIN users.

Does that mean another contract on the shoulders of KIN customers under the disguise of the free phone that is being offered?
