Operation India: Tuesday the international Internet hactivist collective known as Anonymous took down a government website in protest of political corruption and police violence against peaceful protesters (#OpIndia).
Anonymous hactivists managed to hack and deface NIC (National Informatics Centre), an Indian government website. The action is motivated by an anti-corruption campaign led by social activist Anna Hazare and Yogi Baba Ramdev, and the brutal crack down on protesters supporting the anti-corruption campaign by the Delhi police.
Anonymous put up its logo and a message for the country's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the hacked website. The message reads:
Greetings!

This time we talk to the government – On NIC Homepage and Sub-Domains.
There is no use securing. There is no use of spending on forensic.
Get this message clear Mr. Prime Minister and others.

Anonymous announced their intentions to launch Operation Iran (#OpIran) via the usual channels: Twitter, IRC and a Facebook page.
