It’s a bit of a surprise to hear that Yahoo has launched a search engine for iOS and Android apps, as it is a bit uncommon for Yahoo to work with other companies that one way or another compete with them. But nevertheless Yahoo has announced the launching of an application called Yahoo! AppSpot.
So what does this app do? Well, it searches through the thousands of apps that are available for each platform and recommends you the ones that you might be interested. It’s able to do this, by taking a look at what apps you have installed on your device, and then it will show you eight suggestions per category. Both the new app and the website from Yahoo show the same information provided by the App Store and Android Market, so you can view things like description, screenshots, ratings, and price. After you have decided what application you want to purchase you will be redirected to the store to complete the transaction.
